Lectors at Good Shepherd

Lectors have the responsibility and privilege of speaking God's Word to the people assembled in worship. In our Sunday liturgy, our First Reading is usually from the Old Testament, and our Second Reading is usually from the New Testament -- the Epistles of Paul, the Acts of the Apostles, or the Book of Revelation. Laypersons read these lessons, and in fact lectors are the first ones in our service to bring the Scripture to us. Every service begins with the Liturgy of the Word, and lay lectors are the ministers of that liturgy, just as the priest is the minister of the Liturgy of the Table.

If this is a ministry you are interested in joining, send Mother Mary Grace an email so that you can learn more about this vital and beautiful ministry.

For current lectors, you can find resources to assist you in your ministry on this page. The Customary for Lectors is located here, and if you need help with pronunciation of Biblical names, you can go here
